The Beginning.
After completing one of the most passionate and memorable episodes of his life, as a very young army officer, Ramiro Besada returned as a veteran from the Korean War, and decided to leave behind his military career to pursue his second passion and become a Civil Engineer in 1955 at Tri-State University in Indiana. He soon acquired his PE in the state of Michigan and worked until 1965 in the custom-home design market in the Kalamazoo and Detroit areas, where he developed his architectural design skills thanks to his innate artistic talent and taste. He then decided to move his family, wife and two sons, back to his native Colombia, South America, where he and his wife were born and raised. From that point on, his engineering career focused on structural design and construction in the challenging market of the development and construction of industrial projects. He also had the opportunity in the late 70’s to participate in the academic realm of education as Dean of Engineering of the most prestigious university on the north coast of the country, and even tasted the sweet and sour challenging world of politics in the late 80’s as he became the City Mayor of Barranquilla, the fourth largest city in the country.
The Birth of a Team.
His second son Dwight Besada, who showed a strong interest in drafting and architectural design all the way through high school, eventually followed his footsteps to become a civil engineer. He immediately proceeded to wrap up the formal education phase of his life, obtaining a Master’s degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s School of Engineering in Construction Management and Structural Design in 1982.
Upon completing this degree, Dwight returned to Colombia and teamed up with his father whom had recently started his company BESADA & CO. LTD, dedicating their time to develop and perform turn-key industrial projects. Thanks to Ramiro’s military inspired discipline, business marched positively well, assuring a well-recognized position in the local engineering and construction market.

Besada Enterprises Kicks-off.
As the 20th century was coming to its end, in the latter part of the 90’s, Colombia was victim of the most devastating political and financial crisis of the last 50 years. BESADA & CO struggled to survive this unfortunate historic moment; but by 2004, the heart-breaking decision had to be made, and the company came to its end. Ramiro decided it was time to forcefully retire, and Dwight moved with his family to Miami, Fl., where the residential construction and real estate markets were booming.
In Florida, Dwight quickly got involved in the structural aspect of the residential construction business, and acquired significant experience in structural inspection, behavior, diagnosing, damage control, and repairing after the violent hurricane season of 2005 when Katrina and Wilma, amongst others, passed though Florida. Working closely with architects in the area, and supporting them in determining structural solutions to their designs to better withstand the forces of nature, Dwight developed and strengthen his skills in architectural design concepts. As he established his new consulting firm BESADA ENTERPRISES LLC in Florida, Ramiro’s talents were once again required and the team was back into action in 2006. Ramiro was flying back and forth between Colombia and Miami to support business as Dwight additionally started to travel to New Mexico in 2007 to provide engineering and project management services to the new URENCO USA Uranium Enrichment Facility whose construction had recently kicked off. This new nuclear construction project was in high demand of endless work hours for the next 6 to 8 years, and as the residential boom subsided in Florida and business diminished in Miami in 2009, Dwight moved to Hobbs, NM, to dedicate full time to this new and unique nuclear project.
